Serbian religious leader and politician Muamer Zukorlic has died

Muammer Zukorlic, the longtime mufti of the Mesihat of the Islamic Community of Serbia, has died at the age of 51. reported Serbian media.

Zukorlic also had an impressive political career and will be remembered as the most important political representative of Sandzak and the Bosniak minority. He was an MP in the Serbian Assembly, and in one term as its vice president.

According to reports, Zukorlic he fell ill while giving a lecture in Novi Pazar, and the cause of death was a heart attack.

Born in the village of Ribarice near Tutin, Muamer Zukorlic was educated in Sarajevo, Constantine and Algeria, where in 1993 he graduated from the Faculty of Islamic Law, Department of Sharia Law. He completed his postgraduate studies in Lebanon.

Of his two wives, Umeja and Elma, he leaves behind eight children.
