The famous pianist George Winston died, he lost his battle with cancer

George Winston, the famous solo pianist who sold more than 15 million albums in his career died this weekend, on June 4, aged 73.  The sad news about the pianist's death was announced yesterday.

The announcement came via his social media and website stating that he "passed this world painlessly in his sleep" after a decade-long battle with cancer.


Winston struggled with cancer 10 years, and in 2013and was subjected to bone marrow transplantation.

Winston was one of the world's best-selling instrumental pianists during his heyday in the 1980s and 90s.

Throughout his career, Winston has found ways to push the boundaries. Perhaps his most famous works are "Peanuts" of the original composer Vince Guaraldi, the number "The Velveteen Rabbit,” so the full album in honor of the rock group "Doors" - "Night Divides the Day" published 2002, "Montana: A Love Story," which also included performances of songs by Frank Zappa and Sam Cooke, as well as the last compilation "Restless Wind" from 2019, with the tunes of George Gershwin and Stephen Stills.
