Former honorary president of the SPS Milutin Mrkonjic has died
Former Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Milutin Mrkonjic dies in Belgrade at 80 President of the SPS and Member of Parliament for that party in the Serbian Parliament.
Milutin Mrkonjic was born on May 23, 1942 in Belgrade. He graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Belgrade, majoring in Roads, Airports and Railways.
For more than 45 years he worked on the realization of the most important projects in the field of transport infrastructure in many countries in the world, Yugoslavia and Serbia: the Belgrade-Bar railway, road corridors 10 and 11, "Beska" and bridges "Zezelj".
He was a member of the Central Committee of the SKJ. He is the honorary president of the SPS, was one of the founders of that party, vice president and member of the Presidency.
Since 2000 he has been a member of the Council of Republics in the Federal Assembly of the FRY, and then of the State Union of Serbia-Montenegro.
From 2008 to 2012 he was Minister of Infrastructure in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, and from July 2012 to August 2013 he was Minister of Transport.
He has won many state, social and professional awards - Order of Merit for the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia of the first degree, Order of Labor, Order of Labor with a silver wreath, Order of Labor with a gold wreath. .
