Former Chinese President Zemin has died
Former Chinese President Jiang Zemin has died at the age of 96, Chinese state media reported Reuters.
Jiang died of leukemia and multiple organ failure in Shanghai at 12:13 p.m., the official news agency said. Xinhua.
The death was announced in a letter addressed to the entire Communist Party, the entire military, and the Chinese people of all ethnic groups.
The letter said they are deeply saddened to announce to the entire Party, the entire military and the Chinese people of all ethnic groups that "our beloved comrade Jiang Zemin has died of leukemia and multiple organ failure after all medical treatments failed."
The letter said that "Comrade Jiang Zemin was an outstanding leader who enjoyed high prestige recognized by the entire Party, the entire military and the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, a great Marxist, a great proletarian revolutionary, statesman, military strategist and diplomat, a long-time-proven communist fighter and an outstanding leader of the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics.”
He was the core of the third generation of central collective leadership of the CPC and the main founder of the Theory of Three Representatives.
