Journalist Janko Nikolovski, double winner of the "Jasmin" award, died
Journalist Janko Nikolovski died today at the age of 75. He was born in 1946 in Skopje, where he graduated from law school. He started his career in 1970 at the then Television Skopje, first as a journalist, and then as an editor of current political shows.
He is the winner of two "Mito Hadjivasilev-Jasmin" state awards - for journalism in 1975 and for journalism in 2005.
He was a member of several expert groups of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, on media freedom issues. In 2006, he was elected as the first president of the Commission for the Protection of the Right to Free Access to Public Information, where he remained until his retirement.
After retirement, he remained active in the field of journalism, publishing publications and articles on the topic of media freedom in several magazines and portals in the region.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. at Butel Cemetery.
