Lazar Lecic, one of the most important people in the history of Macedonian basketball, died

A great tragedy has struck Macedonian basketball and Macedonian sports in general. The great Lazar Lecic, who was one of the most prominent Macedonian basketball players, died.

Lecic died at the age of 85, and will be remembered as a symbol of basketball in Macedonia. He is one of the most responsible for laying the foundations of Macedonian basketball.

He started his career in the ranks of Rabotnicki, later became the coach of this team. Rabotnicki led it twice, first from 1962 to 1972, and then from 1975 to 1968. It was also part of MZT Skopje.

In his career outside the borders of Macedonia, he led: Borac Čacak, Olimpija Ljubljana, Vojvodina and Aris. Lečić was also part of the professional staff of the Yugoslav national team that won the world title in 1970.

The funeral will take place tomorrow at Butel Cemetery. Lecic's body will be exposed in the chapel for one hour from 10:30 to 11:30.
