The doyen of the Macedonian Speakership, Simon Belichanec, has died

At the age of 82, yesterday in Skopje, Simon Belichanec, the doyen of the Macedonian Speakership, whose professional career is tied to the Macedonian radio-television, died.

Belicanec was born on June 2, 1942 in Prilep. There he completed primary education, high school, and lower music school.

He studied at the Faculty of Technology in Skopje, and during his studies he applied for an audition at Radio Skopje and was immediately hired as a speaker.

He also graduated from a higher speaker school in Belgrade, within the framework of the then Yugoslav radio-television. Immediately after, he starts reading the MRT news. He was the host of several musical events.

The funeral of Simon Belicanec will be held tomorrow at the city cemetery in Butel.
