Chad McQueen, the star of The Karate Kid and son of film icon Steve McQueen, has died
The news of the actor's death Chad McQueen, his lawyer Arthur Barens shared with the public.
"It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Chad McQueen, son of the famous actor Steve McQueen. In 2020, Chad suffered an injury from which he never fully recovered," Barens said.
McQueen died Wednesday of organ failure at his Palm Desert ranch, he told the The Hollywood Reporter his friend of 40 years, Arthur Barens.
Chad McQueen is best known for playing Dutch, one of the bullies in the original Karate Kid movie and its sequel, Karate Kid II. He also starred in films such as Skateboard (1978), Martial Law (1991), New York Cop (1993), Death Ring (1992) and Red Line (1995) and had plans to reprise his Karate Kid role in the Netflix spin-off Cobra Kai.
Outside of acting, McQueen focused on auto racing, like his famous father.
In a statement on Instagram, his children Chase and Madison wrote:
"His remarkable journey as a loving father to us, along with his unwavering devotion to our mother, truly exemplified a life filled with love and devotion." "His passion for racing not only highlighted his exceptional talent, but also served as a way to honor his father's legacy, a testament to the values instilled in him."
