Bogdan Macovei, the coach of Kometal GP and the women's national team that was a hit at the 1997 World Cup, has died

Handball expert Bogdan Macovei died today at the age of 67 in Romania. Macovei is the coach who achieved the first great successes with the women's handball team, and was the coach of Kometal GP in the 1990s.

Macovei led the Macedonian national team at the 1997 World Cup in Germany. and in which the handball players won the seventh place, which is the biggest success so far.
Macovei was also the coach of Kometal GP with whom he played in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

It is interesting that Macovei in his coaching career mostly led women's teams (Kometal GP, Vlcea) and national teams (Macedonia and Romania), and has coached only one men's team, Pelister with whom he played in the 2002 Challenge Cup final.
