"The world knew him as the seventh 'friend' of the hit series 'Friends', but Michael's relatives knew him as an actor, musician, cancer lawyer, and beloved husband. He loved live music, cheering for his Clemson Tigers, and often knew how to find himself in the middle of fun or unplanned adventures. "Once you met him, you got a lifelong friend," said his family.

James's health was revealed earlier this year, following his appearance at Friends Reunion, a documentary interview for the cult series 17 years after it aired, where the actor appeared with a video greeting, although he was eagerly expected to be seen in " Central Perk "again.

He later explained why he did not appear alongside the other actors, stating that he did not want to be the one to ruin the mood at such an important and special moment.

His cancer was discovered in 2018, but he kept the information secret for three years.
