The Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs reopened its embassy in Baghdad after an 18-year absence.

The Moroccan embassy in Baghdad was closed in 2005, and part of the diplomatic mission was transferred to Jordan due to the "deteriorating security conditions" in Iraq.

The head of Moroccan diplomacy, Nasser Bourita, attended the re-opening of the embassy in Baghdad, where he had a meeting with his Iraqi counterpart, Fouad Hussein.
The ministers committed to trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
