Plenkovi:: To resolve the dispute between Macedonia and Bulgaria and to unblock the negotiation process
Croatia has done a lot to unblock the negotiation process with Northern Macedonia and Albania and wants the remaining issues between Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia to be resolved so that we can wait for a date for negotiations with both countries, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic said today.
The Croatian prime minister is taking part in the Southeast European Co-operation Process (SEECP) Summit in Antalya, a regional initiative launched 25 years ago. This year's summit is chaired by Turkey.
Plenkovic reminded that Croatia is one of the countries advocating for the enlargement process and that last year at the summit in Zagreb, which was held in video format, did a lot to unblock the negotiation process with Northern Macedonia and Albania.
"I said today that we want to resolve all remaining issues between Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia and that we should welcome that moment, the date for the opening of negotiations, ", Said Plenkovi..
The summit adopted a document on the development perspective of the whole area of Southeast Europe until 2030, which follows the global and European challenges.
"The document calls for better cooperation, bilateral and regional and gradual support for those countries that have ambitions to join the European Union, and my presentation was in that direction." Plenkovic said.
According to him, the key is infrastructure cooperation, economic cooperation, trade and he warned of the problem with negative demographic trends that is present throughout Southeast Europe.
