Five hundred young athletes received scholarships from the Ministry of Sports
The Minister of Sports Borko Ristovski awarded the five hundred "Sports Hope" sports scholarships at the Macedonian Opera and Ballet yesterday. The winners of the scholarships are selected from several collective and individual sports and will receive a scholarship worth 20 percent of the average salary in the previous year 2023, or about 8.000 denars per month.
Ristovski emphasized that he is honored and pleased that as Minister of Sports he is able to grant financial aid to 500 children.
He believes that these scholarships will be of great help to athletes in their development in the sport they are engaged in, regardless of whether it is an Olympic, non-Olympic, individual or team sport.
The Minister added that the list of children who have received scholarships so far has been purged, after the Ministry realized that there are recipients of sports scholarships who do not play sports at all.
"We award these scholarships based on a proposal from the parent federations. This is just one continuity we want to maintain with the federations, our relationship is based on results, trust and zero possibility of corruption. The scholarship is valid for one year, but we hope that the next year will be bigger or we may be able to create a model that will give better results. "We have already done a purification of the list of children who receive scholarships, this year 48 children less received a scholarship, because it turned out that they were fictitiously entered in the lists and do not engage in sports", said Ristovski.
