Petkov: Bulgaria should reconsider its approach to Northern Macedonia in a constructive way
One of the first tasks of the new Bulgarian Foreign Minister and the future Bulgarian Prime Minister is to form working groups between Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia that will cover different areas. This was commented by Kiril Petkov, co-chair of "We Continue with Change", which won the parliamentary elections in Bulgaria, in the program "Week" on the Bulgarian private national radio "Darik".
According to the MIA correspondent from Sofia, according to Petkov, these working groups should be similar to those in the negotiations between the future coalition partners in Bulgaria.
Have working groups on economics, infrastructure, culture, history, human rights and start working on each of these topics as transparently as possible, so that the two peoples can get acquainted with the real topics and everyone can start thinking about the price. if there is no good neighborliness between the two countries and vice versa - what are the successes if there is real good neighborliness.
According to Petkov, the topic of history, which should not be ignored, will become one of the topics of conversation, but it will not be unique.
Petkov said that in order to reach Skopje by plane he had to fly through Vienna and asked why there was no railway line that would connect Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia.
He also asked why conferences for different industries are not held, which will connect the businesses of the two countries to work together and why there are no joint concerts. If we had these things, said Petkov, what would our economies look like.
-Then the readiness for compromises on issues that are important for us as a nation and for them as a nation should be easier to resolve, commented Petkov.
But, according to him, that can not happen, if only Bulgaria and Northern Macedonia talk about it, but the whole context must be opened. "Good results, he said, come through work, not good ideas and slogans." Petkov thinks.
According to him, we can get the most with good neighborliness and in the future to solve these problems, which he called "small". To be, as he said, part of the European family that will be very good for the whole region.
