Five workers were killed in an explosion at a rocket factory in Turkey

Five workers were killed in an explosion at a rocket and explosive device factory in Turkey, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced today. The explosion happened early this morning in the Elmadag district, in the suburbs of Ankara. The cause of the explosion is still unknown.

"There was an explosion at the MKE Missile and Explosives Factory in Ankara's Elmadag district. Five of our workers died in the explosion. "A criminal investigation has been launched into the incident," the Ministry said.

The relatives of the employees, who learned that there was an explosion in the factory, rushed to the front of the factory, reported TGRT Haber.

The factory works to fulfill the quota for rocket and explosive needs of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of the Interior.

Explosive, thermal and dynamic tests of rocket fuel and gunpowder are performed in the factory.

After the explosion, firefighters arrived at the scene of the accident to put out the fire, as well as a large number of ambulances.
