Five construction workers were killed and nine were injured when a school building under reconstruction in Antwerp, Belgium, collapsed.

An investigation into the causes of the accident is ongoing.

Five injured workers were hospitalized, three were in intensive care and one was released for home treatment. announced the local fire service on Twitter.

King Philippe of Belgium and Prime Minister Alexandre de Croix visited the scene of the accident.

Among the workers were citizens of Portugal, Romania and Ukraine, the Belgian media reported.
