Peskov: Time is running out for Ukrainian soldiers in Russia's Kursk region to lay down their arms

Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region of Russia are running out of time to lay down their arms, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said today, citing Russian President Vladimir Putin's response to US President Donald Trump's call for Russia to spare the lives of Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region.

Peskov told Tass that the Russian president's offer to Ukrainian soldiers in the Kursk region to lay down their arms still exists, but that time is running out.

He noted that their time is shrinking like "shagreen leather," referring to French writer Honoré de Balzac's novel "Shagreen Leather" in which the main character's life is shortened with each fulfilled wish.
