A pensioner from Skopje lost 8.000 euros - she sent them to Facebook scammers from Ghana

A 76-year-old woman from Skopje reported to the police that she was defrauded for a sum of almost 8.000 euros, after she met fraudsters through a social network, who told her to pay the money for humanitarian purposes, and that they would return it to her later, the Ministry of the Interior said.

"On 13.11.2024/16.30/76 at 479.540:12.11.2024 p.m. in SVR Skopje, a XNUMX-year-old woman from Skopje reported that she was defrauded by a person for the sum of XNUMX denars. According to the report, in the period from February to November XNUMX, XNUMX, she communicated on a social network with the person who asked her to buy mobile phones and send money for humanitarian purposes, after which the money will be returned to her. "As reported, she bought six mobile phones on six occasions and sent them via express mail to two people in Ghana and released money via express money transfer to a person in Italy, but the money was not returned to her," the police bulletin reads.

Measures are being taken to clear the case.
