Pendarovski met with Zelenski: Macedonia will continue to support Ukraine

President Stevo Pendarovski, within the framework of the participation of Ukraine - Southeast Europe, today in Tirana had a meeting with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenski.

The two presidents discussed the latest developments in Ukraine and the possibilities for deepening cooperation in the direction of supporting the Ukrainian people and restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.

President Pendarovski reaffirmed the position that North Macedonia strongly condemns the Russian Federation's aggression against Ukraine from the very beginning, which is a violation of the UN Charter and OSCE principles.

At the same time, President Pendarovski stated that our country joined the Crimean Platform, adopted the Declaration of Condemnation of Military Attacks against the Territorial Integrity and Sovereignty of Ukraine, joined the Joint Declaration of the G-7 in Support of Ukraine, the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian children and supported the establishment of the Special Tribunal, which will investigate and prosecute all crimes of aggression committed by the Russian Federation.

At the same time, the president welcomed the European Council's decision to open negotiations for Ukraine's membership in the EU and emphasized that North Macedonia, as a NATO member state, remains committed to the policy of open doors and supports Ukraine's application for membership in the Alliance.

At the meeting, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude for the firm position and overall support that Ukraine receives from our country.
