Pendarovski on a meeting with Lirman: Germany is a key political and economic partner of the country
Today, President Stevo Pendarovski received Ana Lirman, State Minister for Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Congratulating her on taking office, President Pendarovski said that the visit of Minister Lirmann shortly after her appointment demonstrated the clear commitment of the German authorities to the aspirations of the Western Balkan countries for membership in the European Union.
President Pendarovski thanked that the enlargement of the European Union and the Western Balkans are among the key priorities of the new Government of Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
President Pendarovski stressed that the Republic of Northern Macedonia remains committed to the European agenda and reaffirmed the expectation for the soon start of accession negotiations for membership in the European Union. In that regard, President Pendarovski pointed out the readiness of our country to continue the dialogue with the Republic of Bulgaria, in the spirit of good neighborly relations, in order to overcome the blockade in terms of European integration.
In the context of bilateral relations, President Pendarovski assessed that Germany is a key political and economic partner of the country and one of the most important trade partners in recent years. President Pendarovski expressed hope for further strengthening of friendship and partnership between the two countries, including NATO alliance, as well as expectation for further increase in trade.
