Pendarovski: Macedonian Bulgarians chose the wrong path

The Macedonian Bulgarians do not understand from the very beginning, even though they were received by me and other state authorities, that according to the bilateral agreement with Bulgaria and according to all international norms, the citizens of the Republic of North Macedonia should seek their rights here in the Macedonian institutions. of course if they think they are threatened, says President Stevo Pendarovski.

- Unfortunately, they took the opposite path and I think they chose the wrong path, which does not mean that the Macedonian institutions will not protect their rights. They are wasting their time talking to European institutions and the Court in Strasbourg, and before that they didn't ask for help from the institutions in Skopje, Pendarovski said at the joint press conference with Hungarian President Novak, answering a journalist's question for comment on the demands of the Macedonian Bulgarians after the events of February 4, Macedonia to be punished.

The president estimates that relations with Bulgaria have been deteriorating lately, after we had a certain calm after the acceptance of the negotiation framework last year.

- Unfortunately, Gotse Delchev's birthday was used by the other side to raise tensions, which, in my opinion, were unnecessary. On February 4, we as a country passed the exam 100 percent and showed how it should be done by respecting the rights of people to pay respect to the great revolutionary, while isolating all those who come with bad intentions. Those who want to attack the police, of course, earn a misdemeanor charge and deportation. Every European country does it in an identical way, said Pendarovski.
