The party leaders will face each other on Monday, precisely at noon
Some of the topics that the prime minister and the leaders of the parliamentary parties will put on the table at the leadership meeting are the date for the parliamentary and presidential elections, the inclusion of the recommendations of the OSCE/ODIHR in the Electoral Code, Euro-Atlantic integrations, the abolition of the technical government, completion of the SEC, purification on the Electoral List, etc.
The date for the parliamentary and presidential elections, the inclusion of OSCE/ODIHR recommendations in the Electoral Code, the Euro-Atlantic integrations, the abolition of the technical government, the completion of the State Election Commission (SEC), the purification of the Electoral List, are just some of the topics that the Prime Minister and the leaders of the parliamentary parties will put them on the table at the leadership meeting that Dimitar Kovachevski announced, and VMRO-DPMNE leader Hristijan Mickoski accepted to hold on Monday.
Party leaders were supposed to receive the invitations for the meeting yesterday. Kovachevski and Mickoski also specified the time for the leadership meeting to be exactly at noon, after the opposition leader asked for the meeting to be after 11 a.m. because he has classes with students before that.
- We learned from the media that Prime Minister Kovacevski is scheduling a leadership meeting for Monday related to the elections. Such communication through media on such important issues is his choice. A leadership meeting is certainly acceptable for Monday, at which we expect to finally discuss specifying a date for elections, accepting the remarks of the OSCE/ODIHR, as well as the offer to abolish a technical government, in exchange for not having a technical prime minister from DUI . At the same time, since it was decided to communicate through the media, we ask that the meeting be after 11 am, on Monday, because the president of VMRO-DPMNE has classes with students at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, where he works as a full-time professor - briefed by the opposition party.
Kovacevski announced a leadership meeting for an agreement on Monday's elections. Representatives of all parliamentary parties and the President of the Assembly Talat Xhaferi will receive invitations for the leadership.
- They will discuss the Euro-Atlantic integration of the country, the holding of regular presidential and parliamentary elections and the amendments to the Electoral Code - Kovacevski said.
It is certain that an agreement will be reached between the leaders for joint elections on May 8 as the only date for the parliamentary and presidential elections to be held in the regular term, but also that the government will reject Mickoski's offer to abolish the technical government in the last 100 days of the mandate. to not have a prime minister from DUI. It is expected that the recommendations of the OSCE and ODIHR, which the parties treat as technical, will be inserted into the Electoral Code. The dilemma remains as to whether the leaders will agree on who will fill the vacant position in the SEC, since both a candidate supported by Besa and a candidate supported by the Alliance for Albanians competed in the advertisement. If the information of "Free Press" is confirmed that SDSM will support the opposition candidate of Besa, it is possible that this will cause new disagreements between the government partners Kovacevski and Arben Taravari. The Alliance says that they are not giving the seat in the SEC, but they do not specify whether Taravari will put this issue on the table of the leadership.
On the other hand, a senior official from the European Union for Change, in a briefing for "Free Press", says that they are waiting for the leadership invitation to build their positions.
- From the invitation, we will see what Kovacevski is convening the leadership meeting about and what he wants us to discuss, and then we will see what our positions will be. One thing is clear – without our member in the SEC there will be no elections - says the official.
The President of the Assembly Xhaferi a few days ago he stated that according to the announcements and the assumed dynamics, if the parliamentary and presidential elections are held together on May 8, he will announce the elections on February 27 or 28. If there are joint elections, according to the Przyna agreement, the technical government should be formed on January 27 or 28.
