Pantone has announced Peach Phase as its Color of the Year for 2024
If we could imagine the year ahead, what color would it be? This abstract thought is something that experts from The Pantone Color Research and Data Center. They consider what trends reign in high fashion, interior design, popular culture, but also human psychology.
This year, they opted for the shade "PANTONE 13-1023", ie "Pitch Phase" – a light, fruity tone that evokes peace and tranquility.
"We go through a lot of turbulent turmoil in our lives and we need a calming color," said Liatrice Eisman, CEO of Pantone. in an interview with "CNN".
"It's a warm and cozy shade. And she is very tactile. We think that, at a time like this, that quality is really important – to touch other people and gather them into your home."
Various shades of peach regularly appeared on the catwalks in the spring-summer 2024 collections, especially in Milan and Italian fashion houses such as Gucci, Gilles Sander and Sportmax. Peach-colored dresses could also be seen on the red carpet, and its representation in pop culture was increasingly present.
"We think the peach color is very nostalgic. It is more often a women's color, but in certain variations it has slowly crept into men's wardrobes as well. I think that speaks about the modernity of this shade," Eisman said.
In a press release, the Pantone CEO also stated that the Peach Phase awakens a sense of belonging, inspires reunion and mutual care.
By the way, this year marks the 25th anniversary of Pantone's "Color of the Year" initiative.
