Panovski: Screening in schools makes no sense, rapid tests do not detect asymptomatic cases

The test for Covid-19 should be done only in those students who have symptoms of the virus, because only in this way can the spread of the pandemic in schools be prevented, said the microbiologist Nikola Panovski for TV Alfa.

According to him, the screening in schools conducted by the Ministry of Health has no logic because the rapid tests performed do not detect asymptomatic cases.

- I would distribute those tests in schools, a small training would be done and all children who will now have colds, for free, should be tested immediately. Either call the child if they can or go to his home. Those 40.000 or how many have tests. If we do screening at 8.000, and in neighboring Greece it is done twice a week, for a million children, that means two million a week, we will now watch on TV how screening is done. "I think it's just something to do." says Professor Nikola Panovski.
