Panovski: I expect 70% of the population to be infected, so if a more dangerous strain does not appear, we will move to a calmer covid phase
Professor at the Faculty of Medicine Dr. Nikola Panovski, who is familiar with the situation with covid in the country, predicts for "Free Press" how the situation with the pandemic in the country would develop in case a new, more serious mutation from omicron does not appear. He expects about 70 percent of the population to become infected in the coming period, after which the coyote will grow into an endemic.
- Endemic means that the virus will be like a cold, like the flu, will not cause big problems and will not spread like a fire and there will be less than 5 deaths a day, says Dr. Panovski.
In the latest statistics, the Ministry of Health reported 1.861 new registered cases out of 5.446 tests performed. Out of the total number of positive, 242 citizens became infected for the second time, and one contracted the coronavirus for the third time. 7.273 recovered patients were registered. This number is high because the Commission for Infectious Diseases ordered the isolation of the asymptomatic to be reduced from 10 to 7 days and so many of the positives were deleted from the "My Date" system due to the end of the seventh day. In the last 27 hours, 22 dead citizens have been registered, the youngest of whom is 39 years old, and there is one person who died at the age of 27. Of the 16.442 people who died, six were fully vaccinated. The number of active cases is XNUMX.
