Panama: Sect members killed for killing six children, one pregnant woman sentenced to 50 years in prison each

A Panamanian court has sentenced members of a sect to 50 years in prison each for killing six children and a pregnant woman in January 2020 as part of a "demonic exorcism" ritual.

- The court sentenced a maximum of 50 years in prison for each of the seven accused from the sect "New God's Light", the statement said.

A court in Changwinola, northeastern Panama, has found members of the sect guilty of tying up their victims, including six children and young people between the ages of one and 17, before beating them to death with sticks, Bibles and other objects. that "demons are expelled" from them.

The pregnant woman, who was forcibly dragged to the sect building, was killed in front of her five children, who were then beaten to death along with another minor.

Several eyewitnesses, who were also injured in the ritual, managed to escape and report to the police.
