The University "St. Cyril and Methodius ”(UKIM) decreased by 47 places compared to last year, according to World University Ranking Center (CWUR).

UKIM is on the 1.964th place on the list of 2.000 best universities in the world for the academic year 2022/23.

In just three years, UKIM has dropped 148 places on this world ranking list.

However, UKIM this year is the only Macedonian university on the CWUR list. According to the academic performance, a total of 19.788 higher education institutions were ranked around the world, of which the best 2.000 were singled out.

From the neighboring countries, Serbia has 4 representatives on the list this year as well, among which the highest ranked is the University of Belgrade, which is on the 348th place, the same as last year. Two universities are ranked in Bulgaria, and 12 in Greece. This year, the list does not include any higher education institutions from Albania, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

The top three universities in the world according to the CWUR list are Harvard, MIT and Stanford, all from the United States.

Otherwise, this list a month ago in the Macedonian public was falsely presented as the Shanghai list. The opposition VMRO-DPMNE at a press conference commented on the fall of the largest Macedonian university on the CWUR list, claiming that it is the Shanghai list. The disinformation, without checking the veracity of the statement, was then spread by numerous domestic media.
