More than 2.000 polling stations in the early elections to the National Assembly of Armenia opened at 08:00 across the country. The voting will end at 22:00, TASS reports.

Among the 25 political parties and blocs participating in the elections, according to opinion polls, the favorites are the Civic Agreement party, led by the current prime minister. Nicole Pashinyan and the block "Armenia", led by the country's second president, Robert Kocharian.

The threshold for entering the Parliament can be crossed by the bloc of the third president Serge Sargsyan and former head of the National Security Service Arthur Vanetsian "I have the honor", as well as two parliamentary opposition parties - Prosperous Armenia, whose permanent leader is one of the richest people in the country, Gagik Tsarukyan, and Enlightened Armenia, by Edmon Marukyan. The first president of the republic, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, at the head of the Armenian National Congress party, is also running in the elections.

To enter parliament, a party must get at least five percent of the vote, and a bloc seven percent.

More than 2,5 million people will be able to vote. Electronic voting took place from June 11 to 13, which was attended by 650 people - employees of the diplomatic and consular missions of Armenia, members of their families, as well as soldiers on long missions or training abroad. Under Armenian law, other citizens of the republic living abroad cannot vote because the Armenian diaspora is too large. The electronic voting data will be published together with the main ones after summarizing the results.
