Resignation under pressure
Perhaps part of the public likes the resignation and the criticism of the low trust in the judiciary is justified, but Dameva remained the only one who spoke publicly and opposed the pressures of the previous government, as well as the intrusion into the judiciary by the new government.
The resignation of Vesna Dameva from the presidency of the Judicial Council caused very few reactions from the judiciary. And those who regularly commented on the work of this body, decided to remain silent on the grounds that they had very little information about the resignation, but also about the prime minister's robust action that he had been announcing for days and was supposed to start on Monday.
Mickoski promised that the government will not function as a stage in front of cameras and media, bring in special police units and humiliate people. And indeed, there were no special units, the prime minister did not appear in front of the cameras, but Dameva appeared in front of them.
And he said clearly and loudly that he was resigning under the pressure of the government, which did not stop defaming him after Mickoski took the prime minister's seat. He first started with threats to dissolve the Judicial Council and the Council of Public Prosecutors, so that this rhetoric turned into direct and indirect vilification of judges and prosecutors who are not up to his standards.
Dameva accused her of falsified records, incompetence, incompetence, and MP Antonijo Milososki even threatened criminal liability. In the meantime, texts about her husband's businesses were continuously published, and in her address, Dameva even mentioned the safety of her family.
- After everything, especially after those direct threats from a deputy in the Parliament, I will not be surprised that it will stop here and I am convinced that I will not have peace. I will endure that, but I will not be able to endure it if the safety and security of my family, my daughter and my husband are affected - said Dameva.
When Dameva became the head of the Judicial Council, it was disputed that she was never a judge, but a professional associate, her photo with Zoran Zaev was mentioned, but she received public support when she was illegally dismissed by the majority of Council members led by Selim Ademi. which was associated with DUI.
Dameva withstood the pressures and with the decision of the Administrative Court, but also with the support of the international community, she returned to the presidential chair. Now, after her resignation, there are no statements of concern from the embassies about the pressures of the executive on the judicial-prosecution authority.
Although perhaps part of the public likes the resignation and the criticism of the low trust in the judiciary is justified, Dameva remained the only one who spoke publicly and opposed the pressures of the previous government, as well as the intrusion into the judiciary by the new government.
But her resignation will not save the judiciary, nor will it restore confidence. Especially, not after the dangerous announcements of the Prime Minister that "their" people should sit in the councils, from the notebook of this party.
Unlike Dameva, Kotsevski and the prosecutors against whom the police were not hired, but were publicly humiliated with diagnoses of diarrhea, headaches, temperature, anxiety and the like, decided to remain silent. Kocevski said that he will work honestly and dedicatedly and that the government can fire him if there are grounds for it.
For the government, he is to blame for not prosecuting the "epic" crime they announced. These prosecutors for the prime minister are an extension of the previous government, and indeed, the citizens are not delighted with their results, but they will be even more disappointed if in their place, instead of the previous government's henchmen, come the henchmen of this government. Now it is uncertain whether Kocevski will endure the public harassment and humiliation of the government, or whether the robust action will end with resignations of the intended targets.
