Osmani at a meeting on global cyber security
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bujar Osmani, on the sidelines of the 77th UN General Assembly in New York, participated in a meeting on the topic: "Shaping Global Cyber Security - A Call to Action to Promote Responsible State Behavior and Capacity Building", hosted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Germany, Analena Berbock and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, Catherine Colonna.
The focus of the discussions, as announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were security challenges in cyber space as a serious threat to the existing international order, and the need for an effective multilateral response and strategic exchange of information and experiences, especially among NATO allies, was also emphasized, in the direction of a successful addressing and overcoming cyber threats.
In his presentation, Minister Osmani referred to the challenges in the cyber space that North Macedonia is facing, stressing that cyber attacks are also characteristic of other countries from the Western Balkans, a trend that especially intensified after the beginning of the Russian military invasion in Ukraine. Osmani also addressed the dangers associated with hybrid risks and threats, such as malicious cyber activities, which aim to destabilize states and cause insecurity among citizens.
- The national cyber security strategy is one of the pillars of the system for strengthening cyber defense capacities, protecting critical information infrastructure, raising awareness of information security and the security culture of all actors in cyberspace. North Macedonia continuously cooperates with all stakeholders – the business sector, the research and academic community, as well as with civil society, in order to find common solutions for these challenges, concluded Osmani.
Pointing to the unlimited possibilities and benefits of digital technology in our modern life, Minister Osmani emphasized that our country stands for a free, open, peaceful and safe environment in the use of information technology.
