Oscars 2023: "Everything Everywhere All at Once" collected the most important statuettes of the prestigious film awards
The dramedy "Everything Everywhere All at Once" is the absolute winner of the year's 95th edition of the Oscars, with which the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded the most deserving names in the film industry for the past year.
The story of the Chinese expatriate, who is caught in a crazy adventure, where she alone can save the world by exploring other universes, was nominated for the most number of golden statuettes, as many as 11, and managed to win in seven categories - best film, best director , Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Actor in a Supporting Role, Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Original Screenplay and Best Editing.
The actress Michelle Yeo made history and became the first actress of Asian descent to win the prestigious film award.
"This is for all the little boys and girls watching me tonight - this is a piece of hope that it is possible. Ladies, don't let them tell you that you're past your prime," Yeo said after accepting the statuette for Best Actress in a Leading Role for "Everything Everywhere All at Once."
Ke Hui Quan was named Best Actor in a Supporting Role and became the first actor of Vietnamese descent to win an Academy Award.
"Mom, I won an Oscar!" They say that things like this only happen in movies, I can't believe it happened to me," he said.
It is also the first time in Oscar history that multiple Asian actors have won statuettes on the same night.
The legendary Jamie Lee Curtis won her first gold statuette in her long acting career in Hollywood and was named best supporting actress.
"I know it looks like I'm standing alone in front of you, but I carry hundreds of people inside me," she said, before paying tribute to her co-stars from the movie "Everything Everywhere All at Once", as well as her close people.
Daniel Kwan и Daniel Scheinert is the third directing duo to have won the Academy Award for Best Director in the history of the awards. They dedicated this award to their mothers.
The award for best actor went to Brendan Fraser, for his lead role in the film "The Whale", defeating them Austin Butler, Colin Farrell, Paul Mescal и Bill Nighy. This film also won the award for Best Makeup and Hair.
The war drama "All Quiet on the Western Front", which is a film adaptation of Erich Maria Remarque's 1929 novel of the same name, won in four categories – Best International Film, Best Music, Best Set Design and Best Cinematography.
Among the other winners were "Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio" for best animated film and Navalny for best documentary.
The host of the solemn ceremony was the comedian Jimmy Kimmel, who through his jokes emphasized the need to eliminate gender and racial discrimination at the Oscars.
"Why didn't the Academy nominate the man who directed 'Avatar'?" What do they think, who is he? A woman?” Kimmel said.
He also did not miss the opportunity to joke about last year's scandal with Will Smith and Chris Rock.
"If anyone in this theater commits an act of violence at any point during this event, they will be awarded the Oscar for Best Actor and be allowed to give a 19-minute speech," Kimmel joked.
