The municipality of Tetovo does not catch stray dogs, they were disturbed by the crowds and the bursting of firecrackers
The streets of Tetovo have become a horror for the citizens. Every day the police bulletin is full of reports of attacks on citizens by stray dogs. Three such attacks were registered yesterday, and the number of such incidents is much higher, given that not everyone reports them.
53-year-old M.Z. from the village of Brodec reported to SVR Tetovo yesterday that she was bitten by a stray dog on "Ivo Lola Ribar" street. A 46-year-old man from Tetovo was also bitten on the same street. VA (53) from Tetovo also reported that she was bitten by a stray dog on "Todor Tsipovski-Merjan" street.
The Municipality of Tetovo told "Sloboden Pechat" that within the project of "Amos Shelter" for the capture and treatment of homeless dogs, 42 dogs have been captured so far, and some of them have already been taken care of by families. According to the project, a total of 82 dogs should be caught, but at the moment the action is at a standstill.
"During this period, there was a short interruption of the action due to the New Year holidays, when the emigrants also come, so the activity in the streets has increased, and thus the anxiety among the dogs. During this period, firecrackers are also thrown, and other pyrotechnics are used, so this made it impossible for the action to run smoothly. It is planned to continue the project with new captures in the next period," said the Municipality of Tetovo.
What will happen next, whether the extension of the contract or its termination, will be further discussed and decided, the municipality added.

She published the Rulebook last month. The goal is, as indicated from there, that the Municipality of Tetovo should meet the citizens, by simplifying the procedures for such cases, as well as reducing them, i.e. avoiding court costs, as well as costs for executors and lawyers.

The mayor of Gostivar Arben Taravari, who is the new president of the Center for the Development of the Polog Planning Region, recently stated that only with a regional approach will it be possible to solve the problem of stray dogs in the Polog region.
The municipality of Vrapcishte has been indicated as a possible location for a Regional Center for caring for stray dogs from the entire Polog region. But for now this is just an idea, there are no concrete steps on the ground.
