The opposition in Turkey has not agreed on a single candidate in the race against Erdogan
The Turkish opposition failed to agree on a single candidate for the presidential elections, after Muharrem Ince from the State Party refused to withdraw his candidacy in favor of Kemal Kilicdaroglu from the Republican People's Party, the Turkish newspaper "Hurriet" reported today.
The presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey are scheduled for May 14, and according to polls, the main opponent of the current president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, is the only candidate from the opposition Republican People's Party, Kilicdaroglu.
Four candidates are allowed to participate in the presidential elections, and many opposition activists called on Ince to withdraw his candidacy, believing that it would prevent Kilicaroglu from winning the first round and taking some of the opposition's votes for himself.
Responding to these accusations, he told "Hurriet" that he is not only dissatisfied with the current government, but also with the opposition bloc and that he intends to engage in politics.
