Dangerous smell of war: US troops sent to Europe, and if Russia fulfills its threats, it will be a major war with severe consequences for the whole world

The latest decision by the US President shows that the situation in Eastern Europe is dramatically complicated, while many expect Russian intervention in Ukraine. Joe Biden to send several thousand troops, warships and planes to The Baltics and Eastern Europe. Although Biden has repeatedly said that America will not intervene if there is a Russian attack on Ukraine, it is now clear that this will not be the case, writes Glas Istre.

Once the US diplomatic staff in Ukraine was ordered to leave the country, leaving only those necessary to conduct diplomatic affairs, a similar warning to leave was given to all other US citizens who are in that country. Then and great Britain decided to withdraw its diplomatic staff and advised the British to leave Ukraine immediately.

It smells more and more dangerous of war and conflict, and Biden's latest decision to send US troops to the region indicates an unusual turnaround. Washington thought it best not to provoke Putin, but as the Russian president's rhetoric intensified, an overnight decision was made to send American troops to Europe.

Everything was agreed last weekend at Camp David, where senior Pentagon officials met and presented their plan to the president. There are several scenarios, and according to one of them, between 1.000 and 5.000 troops should leave for Europe immediately, but their number can increase significantly in the shortest possible time. Some claim it could reach as high as 50.000. It's just certain Biden has decided to send troops, and the details will be known this week. Although, of course, Beijing Olympics has nothing to do with possible intervention, many believe the games will still delay the military operation. However, this is only a guess, so Biden is in a hurry to take the troops to Eastern European countries as soon as possible, where they will be deployed.

He wakes up NATO, because the military alliance is aware that this is the last chance to preserve the unity of those who are members. A new shame, like the one in Afghanistan, would be a defeat for NATO, and European military forces remain only plans on paper. Ukraine is a new opportunity for NATO to show strength and authority, as Putin certainly knows, as it continues to concentrate its military forces around Ukraine.

The evacuation of the Americans from Ukraine indicates that something dangerous is being prepared. It is now reported that US troops are coming to Romania and Poland. Talks between the two senior officials, Anthony Blinken и Sergei Lavrov, have failed, and diplomacy has less and less chance of success. The Russians are increasingly piling up their troops in Belarus as well, which is a dangerous approach to NATO. The clashes are therefore increasingly likely, as threats of sanctions have not stopped Moscow.

Only now Joe Biden's final decision on the Pentagon to take action is awaited. Some of the troops would come directly from America, and some would be deployed from Europe. That means sophisticated weapons will be stockpiled, but the Pentagon is not revealing what could be brought to Ukraine's immediate vicinity. They are also announced joint exercises of the military forces of Romania, Bulgaria and the Baltic countries, because in the end, if Ukraine falls, everyone is in danger.

According to US media, there are currently 4.000 US troops and 1.000 NATO troops in Poland. There are 4.000 US troops in the Baltic states, and new electronic wiretapping technology is constantly being used. The Americans are listening to the conversations of the Russian officers, and of course vice versa. He fears most that Russia may decide to deploy nuclear weapons along Ukraine's borders. There were some indications, as Moscow insisted that NATO was threatening it and that everything should be done to preserve Russia's military interests in that part of the world.

Both the Americans and the Russian spies are already stationed in Ukraine itself. There are almost 150 military experts from America, a large quantity of weapons is arriving, there are specialists, and the media write that these are "green berets" and members of the National Guard from Florida. There are military experts from other countries in Kiev, British, Poles, Canadians. Many of them have so far participated in the training of Ukrainian soldiers, and the question remains whether they will stay in Ukraine if the Russians attack. NATO is also preparing, so ships and planes in the countries belonging to that military alliance are on standby.

The Russians are also preparing, who constantly have military exercises, which are spreading not only in that area, but also much further. Moscow has said it will do everything in its power to protect Russia's military interests in the world's seas.

- NATO will continue to take all necessary measures to protect and defend all allies, including strengthening the eastern part of the Alliance. "We will always respond to any deterioration in our security environment, including strengthening our collective defenses," said NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.

This is not a consolation for Ukraine itself, as it is not a NATO member. But for the Russians, it was still a "red cloth", so senior military officials immediately interpreted the Secretary-General's words as a new threat from NATO.

"They speak only the language of threats," Moscow said.

Life is not easy for Ukrainians in such an electrified atmosphere. They do not know what awaits them tomorrow, many are scared, but also ready to do everything to prevent bloodshed. The Ukrainian government is not thrilled that the Americans and the British have decided to withdraw from diplomatic missions, so it was seen as a hasty move. Even the construction that it is a matter of excessive caution is used. The Ukrainian leadership wants to show the people with all its might that nothing so terrible is happening, so as not to create chaos. It is carefully commented that Moscow's military threat to Ukraine has been going on for years, since 2014, and that "nothing is new." Citizens are called to preserve peace, to live a normal life and to have peace in the country. Panic would bring victory to the Russians even before possible conflicts began.

- The Russian Federation is currently actively working to destabilize the internal situation in Ukraine. In this situation, it is important to soberly assess the risks and keep calm, say the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.

Americans, on the other hand, warn their citizens to react in time.

US citizens in Ukraine should be aware that Russian military action anywhere in Ukraine will seriously affect the US Embassy's ability to provide consular services, including assisting US citizens in leaving Ukraine, warns the United States, and experience shows that the State the department was always right when assessing where a threat to their citizens could occur.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that the most endangered are the places where the population speaks Russian. So he mentions Kharkov, which has a population of one million and could be the target of the occupation.

- It would be the beginning of a great war, according to the head of state of Ukraine, while it is estimated that there are already 127.000 Russian troops near Ukraine.

If you browse the Ukrainian media, the impression is different. Those who are influenced by Moscow do not indicate that something is being prepared. There is common news that a neighbor rescued a neighbor from robbery because he expelled a group of hooligans and that skaters are preparing for a trip to Beijing. The crown is still high on the front pages of Ukrainian newspapers, and in the media published in Kiev the news that the European Union opposes the evacuation of diplomats is high because it believes that there is no reason for that. There is a lot of news about "problems with Moscow", but they are not set in such a way as to give the impression that Russian troops will march on Ukraine tomorrow. The news that Moscow had temporarily suspended some programs intended for Crimea was published with almost pleasure, so it is stated that things did not go so smoothly in the implementation of the Russian promises that life in Crimea would be a fairy tale.

And in Ukraine for a long time there are no fairy tales. If there really is a war, it would be a conflict whose consequences would be felt in Europe, but also in the world, for a long time. Who knows what will happen if the Russians carry out the threat and enter Ukraine. In that sense, the chaos in the Balkans is nothing. Ukraine would be the first act of new military conflict in Europe, unprecedented since the end of World War II.
