More than 10 million Ukrainians have fled their homes since the start of the war, including more than half of Ukraine's child population, the UN has said. Of those, 6,5 million people have been displaced to Ukraine and 3,9 million have fled to neighboring countries, said UN Deputy Co-ordinator for Humanitarian Affairs Joyce Msuya.

Msuya says humanitarian aid is increasing every day and that more than 1.230 UN staff work with 100 humanitarian organizations across Ukraine.

"Ukraine is a humanitarian paradox: side by side with extreme violence, we see extreme kindness, deep solidarity and care," Msuya said, describing the humanitarian situation on the ground. She said the first UN convoy arrived in Sumy on March 18th, delivering 130 tonnes of medical supplies, water, ready meals and canned food to 35.000 people. The second UN convoy arrived in Kharkov on Monday.

The UN is concerned about the risk of human trafficking, sexual violence and abuse

"In order to provide more humanitarian support, we need a detailed, realistic agreement on humanitarian ceasefires and interruptions to allow aid to enter and people to leave," she said. She added that "the situation in Ukraine is fertile ground for traffickers and predators who are taking advantage of the instability of war."

"Humanitarian organizations are concerned about the risk of human trafficking, as well as sexual violence, exploitation and abuse in Ukraine and the region. "Predators deceive single parents with promises of transportation and accommodation," she said.

The UN says it is stepping up services to protect Ukrainians fleeing the country and the country. They provide accessible information on safe options and routes, access to helplines, and safe haven.
