The public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office Skopje issued an order to conduct an investigative procedure against the 28-year-old woman from Skopje suspected of a crime - "kidnapping" and submitted a proposal for determining the measure of detention to the judge of the preliminary procedure from the Basic Criminal Court Skopje.

In the case that shocked the public, the young woman kidnapped a baby from in front of a market in the City Shopping Center, after which she tried to escape, but was caught after a few hours in Gjorce Petrov.

The prosecutor's office has now shared details of the case: the baby was only seven days old, and the parents left it to the kidnapper to keep it while they shopped in the market.

"On August 16, in the basement of the City Shopping Center - Skopje, the suspect abducted a minor - a newborn who was only seven days old. The suspect offered to help the baby's parents get to the Bit Pazar Polyclinic. At the City Mall, they asked the suspect to hold the baby while they bought food, after which she walked away with him. She took a taxi to Gjorche Petrov, and then to her home, where police officers managed to find her and take her away. With such actions, the suspect prevented the parents from being with their newborn for more than four hours, and also caused a danger of endangering the health of the baby," the statement from the Prosecutor's Office states.

The competent public prosecutor submitted to the judge of the preliminary proceedings from the Basic Criminal Court Skopje a proposal for determining the measure of detention of the suspect, because there are circumstances that indicate a danger of escape, as well as a fear that she will try to cover up the traces of the crime and hinder her the investigation.
