Ohrid Mayor Pecakov celebrated Epiphany with thousands of people, and was positive on covid-19
The Mayor of Ohrid Kiril Pecakov, appeared among the people at the celebration of Epiphany on January 19, although before the event he did a coronavirus test, which then turned out to be positive, announced A1on.
According to the portal, citizens of Ohrid who were in contact with him panicked and asked for test dates, after learning that the mayor was positive. Ohrid health officials say at least 300 contacts of the mayor have already requested testing, but fear the cluster will be much larger.
On Epiphany day, Pecakov published several photos from the celebration, which show him without a mask and in close contact with people.
The mayor, unofficially, in the Ohrid epidemiological service insisted to be sent in isolation, but his efforts were not obeyed, writes A1on.
The State Sanitary and Health Inspectorate confirms that Mayor Pecakov received a decision for isolation after a positive coronavirus test, and reminds that the rule still applies that everyone who is tested should be isolated immediately.
"The recommendations of the Commission for Protection against Infectious Diseases are in force that the person being tested remains in isolation until the result is obtained. Anyone who receives a positive Sars Cov 2 test after testing is in isolation from the moment of receiving the result. "The further course of the disease is monitored by the family doctor and depending on the symptomatology, the isolation lasts 10 days for asymptomatic and 20 days for people with symptoms," said the Inspectorate.
For now, Pecakov does not answer the questions about the testing and the celebration of Epiphany. Unofficially, in addition to him, the secretary of the municipality also received a positive coronavirus test. Alexander Kiteski.
