Polish President Andrzej Duda has signed a law restricting the access of aid organizations and journalists to the border with Belarus, where the migrant crisis is taking place.

The law is a blow to opposition parties, which are pushing for unrestricted access to the media.

According to A state of emergency was declared at the border in September, and media and aid organizations were completely denied access..

The Polish opposition claims that the purpose of the ban is to cover up human rights violations, and the Government considers that restrictive measures are necessary for security reasons.

Under the new rules, the interior minister can restrict access to the border zone, in consultation with the head of the border service.

But journalists and NGOs can enter based on a decision of the heads of the local border control.

Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski said he would impose a temporary ban on entering the area around the border.

The European Union has accused Minsk of provoking a migrant crisis over sanctions.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has accused the EU of deliberately provoking a humanitarian crisis at the border.
