Official: Argentina, Chile and Paraguay want to organize WC 2030
The South American countries Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Paraguay today announced a joint bid to host the World Cup in 2030.
The current world champion together with three other neighboring countries wants to gather the best national teams in 2030, after the next World Cup in 2026 will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Their candidacy has strong backing because it is the centenary of the World Cup, the first of which was held on South American soil in Uruguay in 1930.
In addition to the candidacy of the South Americans, which is official, the candidacy of Spain and Portugal is announced in order to hold the World Cup in Europe. If the World Cup in 2030 is awarded to the South Americans, it will be the third in a row to be held outside Europe.
