The implementation of the local elections in the municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina that were most affected by the floods is postponed, the members of the Central Election Commission decided today, Hina reported.

As confirmed by the CEC in Sarajevo, the elections will be postponed or will be held later in Jablanica, Konjic, Kiseljak and Kreševo. No polling station will be open in the mentioned municipalities on Sunday, although not all parts were equally affected by the flash floods.

The elections will also be postponed in Fojnica, but only in three polling stations.

- Based on what we received as information this morning and after reviewing the general situation on the ground, we made a decision to postpone the elections - said the President of the CEC, Irena Hadžiabdic, explaining that the decision on when the elections will be organized in these four municipalities will was brought additionally.

In all other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, elections will be held in accordance with previous plans.

The citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina tomorrow have the opportunity to elect new mayors and heads of municipalities, as well as new convocations of the city and municipal councils, as well as a new assembly of the Brcko district.

110 political parties have registered for the elections, and there are over 26.000 candidates on the election lists.

The High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, today called on all citizens in BiH to exercise their right to vote and thus directly influence the creation of policies in local communities.

He recalled that in March he personally intervened by amending the Electoral Law, trying to ensure greater transparency and regularity of voting and determination of election results. For this purpose, the use of new technologies will be tested in a certain number of polling stations. There, the voter's identity will be checked electronically, and the voting results will be processed by scanning the ballots.

- Your participation (in the elections) contributes to progress, stability and a better tomorrow. Your voice is important and your opinion is important - says Schmidt's message
