A new sequel coming out soon?
People on social media are delighted with this news. One user commented that he wasn't expecting "such good news," while another added that it was a sign to "get serious about playing The Sims."
LADbible reports that some fans are speculating that the move could mean The Sims 5 is on the horizon, although an exact launch date is still unknown. The gaming community has speculated that the new sequel will be multiplayer, with Electronic Arts' Laura Miele saying in an interview that they want to focus on the "social component of the game".
"Over the last 20 years, we've learned a lot about how players interact, what motivates them, how they collaborate. That's why it's very important to us that in the new generation of "Sims" we have the best tools with which players can expand their creativity," she said.
