The number of pensioners in Serbia who receive a pension from the pension fund has decreased by 58 people since the outbreak of the pandemic, according to the latest statistics.

In June of this year, the payment of pensions was for 1,649 million pensioners against 1,692 million at the end of 2021, while a year earlier, at the end of 2020, 1,708 million senior citizens received a pension.

The number of pensioners in Serbia has been decreasing annually by 2019 percent since 1,5, which reduces the expenditures in the budget for the payment of pensions.

The Fiscal Council expects the downward trend from 2020 and 2021 to continue.

Due to the reduction in the number of pensioners, which the budget does not foresee, the Fiscal Council expects that the costs for the payment of pensions in 2022 will be about 80 million euros lower than planned in the budget.
