From Gracanica, Patriarch Porphyry calls on Serbs for "peace with Albanian brothers" in Kosovo
The head of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SOC), Patriarch Porphyry, at today's liturgy on the occasion of one of the biggest holidays of the Serbian Orthodox believers, Vidovden, called on his compatriots to "make peace with the Albanian brothers", MIA reports from Pristina.
At a liturgy at the Gracanica Monastery in Kosovo, Porphyry said that coexistence with Albanians was necessary and that "others should not be heard about how to build friendly relations with Albanians."
- We are called to be brothers with the Albanians, because we live here with them. Only in communion can we be on God's path, because we all need each other and because no one can do anything without anyone… Let us not let others learn about it, said the head of the SOC.
According to Kosovo Albanian-language media, Porphyry also used a "nationalist vocabulary" when he said that "Kosovo is the birthplace of everything Serbian".
- We know that when we come here we have returned to our own, because here is Kosovo and Metohija, here is our birthplace, we come from here, we were born here, said Porphyry in Gracanica.
