A fire protection report was never requested for the building where the disco is located in Kocani, documents from the Directorate for Protection and Rescue show.

The Director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, Xhevad Selami, said in a statement to Sitel Television that there is no request for a report in the documentation they have for this facility.

"We are reviewing all the documentation for the facility. We have information that it was built in 1999, and was legalized in 2005, and so far we have not seen any request for a report," said Selami.

Selami explains that according to the law, every facility must have fire protection equipment. Two inspectors from this institution are cooperating with the others to determine the exact causes of the fire.

According to official information, 59 people died and 155 were injured in the fire in Kocani.
