From 30 to 40 percent outflow of Bulgarian tourists in Turkey due to the earthquakes
Earthquakes and high prices prevent Bulgarians from traveling to Turkey. This is shown by data from tour operators. The outflow of tourists is around 30-40 percent for destinations like Istanbul, Marmaris, Kusadasi, Bodrum. According to tour operator Dimitar Kostadinov, there is indeed a decline, which may be due to the earthquake and the economic crisis.
"All hotels in Turkey this year are between 20 and 30 percent more expensive than last year. For Turkish resorts, it is advisable to register in November or December, because then the hotels have the best conditions – 10-15 percent discount. The turnover in my agency that offers trips to Kusadasi, Marmaris and Didim is 30 percent," he explained to the Bulgarian "Nova".
According to him, there is a serious rush for the tulip festival in Istanbul.
"Last years we had up to 5 buses for the dates of the festival, now there is a very big drop. The earthquake is one of the factors, as well as the increased prices in Turkey, although it remains much cheaper than here. We have many more daily trips than in previous years, here the drop is also very large," Kostadinov said.
