The prosecution requests an extension of the short-term detention for another 48 hours for 16 people in connection with the fire in Kocani.

The Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Kocani has submitted proposals to the competent court to extend the measure of short-term detention for another 48 hours for 16 people so far included in the procedure for the fire in Kocani, for whom this measure expires during the day, JORMS announced. Short-term detention was imposed on two more people yesterday.

The Prosecutor's Office explains that the short-term detention has been extended because extensive evidence-gathering activities for the formal opening of the investigation are still ongoing.

Two more people, at the request of the prosecution, were remanded in custody yesterday and are still in custody.

In total, short-term detention has been requested for 18 people so far.

The fire at the Pulse disco in Kocani early Sunday morning killed 59 people and injured more than 150.
