OSCE: Mayors to perform transition duties from alternative locations

The Permanent Council of the OSCE, through its representative the United States, who also spoke on behalf of France, Italy, Germany, Italy and Great Britain, issued a joint statement today condemning the development of events in the north of Kosovo and calling on the mayors to fulfill their transitional obligations. from alternate locations.

- We condemn the unacceptable violence against KFOR soldiers, security services and journalists, the statement said.

It is pointed out that the decision of the Government of Kosovo sharply and unnecessarily escalated the tensions with the forced implementation in the municipal buildings.

- Prime Minister Kurti and his government should ensure that the elected mayors perform their transition duties from alternative locations outside the municipal buildings and withdraw the police from the municipal buildings, the statement said.

On the other hand, it added that President Aleksandar Vucic and the Government of Serbia should downgrade the security status of the Serbian armed forces and call on the Kosovo Serbs to stop challenging KFOR and refrain from further violence.

The OSCE called on Kosovo and Serbia to immediately return their commitment to the EU-mediated dialogue on the normalization of relations.
