Pay attention to this! What attracts flies, ticks, bees and mosquitoes
Summer is the perfect time for barbecue, camping and other outdoor activities.
Unfortunately, even the most idyllic landscape has its drawbacks, because when we rest in the fresh air we must avoid mosquitoes, flies and ticks. This can be prevented in several ways. The colors of the clothes we wear also make us more or less attractive to insects.
Good clothes are essential
Mosquitoes "want" to buzz around the ear and bite mercilessly. In the meadows and gardens there are bees and various small flies, while the ticks can be brought not only from the forest, but also from the city park or the lawn near the house. Insects can be not only problematic but also dangerous. To avoid unwanted contact with these insects, it is worth resorting to various measures. It is also important to dress appropriately.
Colors that attract them
Research by scientists at three different universities in the United States and Germany has shown that mosquitoes are more likely to target certain colors when they discover a source of carbon dioxide. The most attractive colors for them are red and orange, and they are attracted by black and blue-green. In return, colors such as white, blue, green, and purple will be avoided because they are less attractive.
Ticks
It is believed that ticks are attracted to white, but they do not have eyes, but have jaws with receptors that record the concentration of carbon dioxide and lactic acid in sweat, air movement and heat. This is enough for them to successfully target their victims. Experts believe that during a picnic in a meadow or forest, it is worth choosing, contrary to popular belief, clothes with intense colors, because they will be easier to spot dark ticks.
Bees
Bees can be especially dangerous to people allergic to their venom. If we want to avoid their company, it is better to avoid clothes in colors such as blue, purple and green. But the shades of red and orange are also attractive to bees.
