The book "Grigor Prlichev and his XIX century" was published

NI Library "Grigor Prlichev" from Ohrid published the book "Grigor Prlichev and his XIX century" by Vera Stojcevska-Antic and the editor Milcho Jovanoski.

- The book with its content is especially relevant today. It is known that the domain of scientific research of the author, prof. Dr. Stojcevska-Antic, ranges from IX to XIX century. As strong and significant as those beginnings in the ninth century were, in a way they remained insufficiently identified in the nineteenth century. In this paper, she seeks the existing transitions of our language from the time of the Old Slavic literary language, which in the various Slavic circles passes from the XII century to the Church Slavonic, to reach the XIX century with the need to express its own literary language, different from the Bulgarian , from Serbian, and understandably it is evident in the Greek language, said the publisher of the book.

Prof. Dr. Georgi Stalev, one of the best connoisseurs of the life and work of Prlichev, in the review states that "in our country Grigor Prlichev is the most obvious example of an intellectual from Ohrid who in his gradual and deep development path, from childhood to the famous 'Second Homer' in Athens, to find out that a 'common Slavic' language is welcome to him, more clearly than the use of the Bulgarian language.

- In fact, he speaks his native Ohrid dialect very well, but he feels the need for a general Slavic language, which he wants to connect with the centuries-old influence of the Slavic development path of the language, more precisely related to the time of Clement, as a kind invented by him a "literary language". In front of him "even today countless lamps are burning in Ohrid". Clement's cult in Ohrid is so deep today. Vera Stojcevska-Antic stops at the common motivations for creating words, especially the influences of St. Kliment Ohridski on certain letters of Grigor Prlichev, which are motivated by common sources, says the reviewer Stalev.

Besides 12 papers by Dr. Stojcevska-Antic, the book also contains autographs, documents, opinions of the Ohrid journalist Milcho Jovanoski. He presents data and pictures about the house and the grave of Grigor Prlichev, about the family tree (for the first time in printed form) about the oldest Macedonian editions of his important works, films about Prlichev, Prlichev's visits, the winners of the award for best poem…

- From Ohrid to Athens, Sofia, Thessaloniki and again Ohrid. Prlichev's life is full of tides. Ascended to Homer, attacked by many. Sick not only physically but also in the soul. Disappointed with the actions of the people around him, his life ends. The love for his native Ohrid was so great that he called the city "fatherland". That is enough evidence for him and the attitude towards his fellow citizens, the city and the newcomers. Prof. Dr. Vera Stojcevska-Antic and her former student, and now our colleague, Milcho Jovanoski, MA, created a concept that merged the past and the present with the hope that this way they will attract the attention of the public and readers for a new reading of the great Prlichev. This "literary textbook" is also a small tourist guide through Ohrid. A book that I am sure will bring Prlichev even closer to us, says the director of the Library, Gordana Zmejkovska, editor of the publication.

It is planned that the book "About Prlichev and his XIX century", dedicated to the patron of the NI Library in Ohrid, will be promoted at the beginning of February within the manifestation "Prlichev sermons".
