The Independent Police Union responds that change in the working hours of police officers, which is introduced at the height of the energy crisis and the current 12-hour shifts are being replaced by eight-hour shifts is a serious problem and appeals to the Minister and the Director of the PSB to overcome it immediately.

The President of the Independent Police Union Goce Delchev, today at a press conference in front of the Ministry of Interior clarified that these changes mean that police officers who used to travel 12-13 times during the month now have to do the same 21-22 times.

- In the wake of the economic and political crisis with the fuel prices, several individuals in the Ministry of Interior came up with an interesting idea to transfer the shifts from the existing ones to work after eight hours a day. This is a serious problem and issue that tomorrow, the Minister through the director of the Public Security Bureau should overcome, said Delchev.

This situation, he stressed, critically reflects on the existence of police officers because most do not work in their municipalities at all and have to travel.

- How to go to work for eight hours from Gostivar to Rostuse or from Prilep to Staravina. They are places that are 70-80 km away from the place of residence of the police, said Delchev.

The NSP points out that these, as they point out, hasty solutions systematically destroy the police officer and reduce his family budget.
